009 // Sunday Breakfast

oatmeal and bananas
oatmeal made with tea and caramelized bananas

Tell me, has this ever happened to you? You wake up craving cereal, pour yourself a bowl and go into the refrigerator only to find out that you've run out of milk. Yeah, it happens pretty often to me.

But not all was lost this morning. I decided to whip up oatmeal with a twist, since I don't have any milk on hand.  And since water is just too bland, I made my oatmeal infused with tea and caramelized bananas. Yes, oatmeal made with tea, it adds a little something extra to a boring meal! I used jasmine tea, but you can use whatever you like. I may try mine with a fruitier tea next time too!

Tea infused Oatmeal and Caramelized Bananas

one serving; 10 minutes

1 cup of tea
1/2 cup of rolled oats
1 teaspoon of cane sugar (any sugar will do)
1 teaspoon butter
1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
dash of cinnamon
banana slices

1. In a saucepan, bring the tea to a boil, then cook oats for 5 minutes or until it reaches your desired consistency.
2. In a separate pan on medium heat, add butter and cinnamon sugar mix. Add bananas and cook for a couple minutes.
3. Plate oatmeal and add on bananas.
