The one thing I really love about living in St. Petersburg is the fact that I am just minutes away from the sea. Over the weekend, I took my niece out to our downtown to walk along the water. As I stared out at those calm waves, I just couldn't help but to think how beautiful it is...
That vast and seemingly endless stretch of blue.
It looks boundless against the blue sky, doesn't it?
It looks boundless against the blue sky, doesn't it?
I envy you, my well traveled friend.
You've seen the world many times again with new waves rolling in from a land far away from mine.
And here I am standing before you, never having sailed your waves or seen what you've seen.
Oh, the many stories you can tell!
Of sailors' journeys, of those who inhabit you and of the whispers of lovers sitting by.
And with that, how many secrets do you keep hidden far beneath your trenches?
In your reflection, you show how you see us. A beautiful illusion of the world we live in, one I can get lost in.
and I have, I really have. But I have to remember that the reflection here is not an illusion at all, but of the world itself.
and it's beautiful
and precious
and ours
and how we make of it.
This is so beautiful! The ocean is my favourite place to be.

Growing up in Clearwater for the lat few years has made me take advantage of beautiful sea scenes like these!
ReplyDeleteDid you write that poem?! it was so beautiful, I might even have to hang it up on my wall! 'I envy you, my well traveled friend....' its so beautiful and it describes me so well. I could go on and out, and I just can't express how much I relate to it! I will never get my fill of the ocean, or of what lies beyond it because it is part of a larger world I have never known, but constantly yearn for.
ReplyDeleteSo much love, and many thanks for this absolutely brilliant post,

Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of your location. We are no where near the ocean and it KILLS me. We want to move so badly!
What a beautiful view! I would love to live close to a beach one day :-)
ReplyDeleteOh how inviting that looks right about now, we are close to the sea where I live too, but it is cold 6 months of the year. But the other 6 months are not bad with 3 months of full on beach weather. Yes I like to be near the sea, not sure if I could handle being land locked.

Milynn-- am so happy that you are just a few minutes from the sea. (and a wee bit jealous too!) There is nothing more peaceful, thought-provoking and just plain blissful than being near an open body of water for me. Love this.
ReplyDeleteWow your words and pictures are beautiful! St Petersburg looks like an enchanting place! xoxo
