Red Beyond the Walls

She looks at the world from the cracked window of her third floor bedroom. A few cars drive by, winding from one street to the next and swerving from pedestrians who had the right of way. Everyone is going about their day as routine dictates, while she stays holed up between those four walls planning her escape from it all. Yes, her escape from her daily routine, the monotony of it. And no, that's not all. She sees the world in a different light than those she sees on the streets below.

Eyes stained red from wandering thoughts of who she's to become. Who is to say she can be whoever she wants to be, but she's expected to stay sweet and kind all of the time? She seeks the camaraderie of people who love her, but they want something else from her. How can she stay delicate in a world so cruel? If love is a foundation of our basic needs, why is it so difficult to decipher what to believe as trickery is so common in the game? Inherent in our core is selfishness and needing for ourselves over others. Chaos stems from the very core of what it means to be human.

Heartbroken by the injustices of the world beyond her four walls.
