Toilet Paper Roll Crown

Today I'm unexpectedly going to a themed birthday dinner in which everyone is to wear a mini hat. Since I did not have the time or money to go venture out and find a hat to wear, I decided to make my own. I got the inspiration from here and made one in about 15 minutes. Thank goodness I already had all of the materials ready and didn't need to buy anything! So I made a tall, pink crown embellished with some rhinestones. Check it out!

Materials needed:
* Toilet paper tube
* Scissors
* String
* Needle (in my case, or you can use a hole puncher)
* Embellishments to decorate your crown

With a pencil, I drew an outline of my crown and slowly cut along the lines to create my crown shape. It was hard to cut with my big scissors, but I made blunt cuts, and when I was finished I went back to round out the edges of the circle part.

 My crayons I used to color my crown! So many colors to choose from... but I chose a pink to emphasize my girly "mini hat".  :)

Here is my crown after I colored it and put the rhinestones on. I also added a thin coat of silver paint to give it more texture... then I colored over it with more pink after it dried.

I am not a fan of having a string tied around my head to keep the crown on, so I decided to tie the crown to a black headband so that it would stay on better and be more comfortable. I got a needle and thread and poked two holes on either side of the crown and strung the thread around the headband a few times until it was tight. When you hold the headband up the crown will swing over it, but once you put it on your head, it doesn't move! Aaaaaannndd....

 Tada! Tall pink crown!

It's a simple design and you get the satisfaction of knowing you are making use of something you would've thrown out.

  2. An interesting dialogue is price comment. I feel that it is best to write more on this matter, it may not be a taboo topic however usually individuals are not enough to talk on such topics. To the next. Cheers. New Braunfels Dumpsters
