Also, speaking of pie making (I am all about pies right now, pie pie pie). This here is an apple crumble pie I baked a couple weeks ago. Mmm, the first homemade pie of the season. There are so many different kinds I am looking forward to baking, mainly simple and traditional kinds, but I'm still on the prowl for fun flavors too! Maybe I'll try my hand at jar pies, pie pops or hand pies.

Apple Crumble Pie Recipe
Crust
Martha Stewart's pie crust
Topping
1 cup of all-purpose flour
1/3 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons of firmly packed brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon of salt
1/2 cup of cold butter, cut into little pieces.
Filling
6 Organic Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and cut
1/2 cup of sugar
3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
a dash of cinnamon
In a bowl, mix flour, sugars and salt. Add butter in and mix with your fingers until the topping comes together in small clumps. Refrigerate.
In another mixing bowl for your filling, toss apples with lemon juice, sugar, flour and cinnamon. Scrape the filling into the pre-baked pie pan then top with crumb topping.
Bake at 350°F for 45-50 minutes until the juices are bubbling and the apples are tender.
**I baked the pie crust for about 30 minutes before filling it.

I'm fully convinced there's nothing better than a homemade apple pie (or any pie, really). I can't wait for Thanksgiving for exactly that reason!

This looks so delicious. And wonderful and perfect for winter. My favourite "pie" recipe is currently a peanut butter apple crumble thing that I make in the microwave and do not share with anyone.

ReplyDeleteI enjoy making apple crumples, too. And if I ever remember to buy readymade pastry, I always make frangipane, my 'favouritest' go-to recipe for apples and pears!
