On Hair and Bows

1 | 2

I’ve been looking at a lot of different hairstyles on Pinterest lately. Mainly because come Tuesday, my hair will be 12 inches shorter (!!!) and I really need some inspiration before I go ahead and have it all chopped off. I love my hair when its long, but it takes so much time to maintain and it’s sooo heavy. And this couldn’t have come at a better time! I’ve always wanted to donate my hair to Locks of Love, and now I’m glad I finally have the chance to. It’s going to feel so good to have a new `do and to have my hair go to a great cause.

While I was going through these photos, I really found myself loving the daintiness of adding bows to your hair. I’m really bland when it comes to hair ties. Black. Elastic. Done. Definitely think I’ll have to buy some ribbon. It's such a simple way to dress up ponytails and braids isn't?

Have you ever donated your hair to Locks of Love?

  1. I love these photos... and what you're going to do with your hair!

Bow tip: It's really hard to get ribbon to stay in silky hair (like my daughter's) and to make bows look cute and even after you have woven them through and around an elastic hair tie. I recommend buying elastic hair ties and then sewing a neatly tied ribbon bow to the elastic. When you sew the bow in place, it will never fall out or untie. That way your hair will stay in place just how you want it... and you'll have a cute bow on it, ready to go!

  2. I donated my hair this past summer for the first time. I donated 12 inches. It was a great feeling! I am a pediatric nurse so it really put things into perspective.

DO IT! it's great! post pictures before and after. I couldn't believe it!

  3. I have long hair, so bows are so easy to implement into my routine. I need to pick up some pretty colors for spring!

  5. That's so exciting that you're going to donate so much hair! I know the feeling about how heavy it gets. My wavy hair gets weighed down and becomes straighter the longer it gets!

  9. Let us know how the cut went! I cut 12 inches off my hair when I was 12 and donated it to Locks of Love. But I haven't done a drastic cut since. I'm considering doing it again.
