On My Bed There's...

A pink throw I pulled out of the closet for an extra cozy night, even though the cooler weather is not here yet.

A diary to write my thoughts, because it's an outlet for me, to vent, remember and stay creative... and practice my penmanship

A Koda cat, to keep me company, since it can be pretty lonesome at times being in a long distance relationship.

Tidbits

Happy Friday, all. This week was pretty brutal, so I'm so happy to have a couple days off from work. Even with the craziness of my days, I was able to find some time for myself. So very needed, so I have for you... some tidbits of my mini-ventures.

The Cornstarch Accident

I normally use the Oscar Blandi Invisible Dry Shampoo to touch up excess oil in my hair. It works really well absorbing oils and freshening up my hair again. But sadly, I ran out and didn't go out to get another one yet. I opted to use cornstarch as a quick fix, it was my first time. Just a light dust over your scalp and brush it out a few minutes later. Well, I meant to pour just a little in my hand and it ended up getting more than I needed and in more places than my hand.

TIP: Don't pour cornstarch directly into your hand, use a spoon.

For the record, cornstarch works to get rid of oily hair, at least for me. Have you tried this?

The Favorite

Lately, these grapes have been a favorite in my house. It's been an everyday snack. and I love it.

The Florida Thunderstorms

ALL WEEK, the thunder roared through the skies and beat on the windows. The rain flooded the streets, the lightning crawled through the clouds, and did you hear about the hurricane that's supposed to swing near Florida? A normal day to us Floridians, what's new?

The Cat and the Catalog

I got a surprise in the mail in the form of a J Crew catalog. Going through it before bed and this little kitty joins me. We both love this look and those sunglasses.

The Five Guys Cheeseburger

This week, I was finally able to catch up with my cousin over some Five Guys. Totally threw a wrench into my fitness plan, but the satisfaction... totally worth it.

The Newbie to the Makeup Bag

I've never been much of a lipstick girl. But I do love some color from time to time with tinted lip balms. This Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment is one of my favorites, so I made quick shopping trip after work for a little retail therapy.

That's a wrap for my week, how has your week been?

Sunshine After the Rain

Koda playing with his shadow
It's finally sunny again now that Tropical Storm Debby has gone. But even with Debby drifting further away into the Atlantic, she still leaves Florida with a lot to clean up. My family and I are blessed that we were able to avoid damage, but our hearts go out to those who weren't as lucky.

This weekend calls for lots of sunshine, so I'll be exploring my downtown and checking out the clean up efforts. Hopefully all the sun will help dry the flooding.

What are your weekend plans?

{Debby around the web...}

This just breaks my heart.
While everyone is indoors during the storm, this daredevil flies over a pier. Kinda cool actually.

Family Dinner

Last week, I had some family come to town. Luckily they came just a few days before Debby and could enjoy some sunny Florida weather. I come from a big big family and getting together is a big deal. There was a lot of early morning visits (6am early), sharing pictures and stories, and eating. Lots and lots of eating. It was a feast almost everyday leading up to the super feast the night before they had to leave. It called for a whole day of cooking and prepping. By the time I got home from work, everything was already done. The table was set with Vietnamese BBQ, greens and noodles for making hand wraps, with sides of homemade crab rangoon, papaya salad... pies... fruit. So much food.

This little guy stole the show the whole night.

Too much cuteness!

These flowers. They were not picked from my yard or bought at the store. I'm pretty sure they were plucked from my neighbors yard. When my family gets together, we do some crazy things. Sorry neighbors.

Tidbits

Behind my lens, I took little snapshots of the tidbits of my week.

Bits and pieces of my mornings this week
This week has been quite stressful in the office. But I managed to find some relaxation in the morning by waking up to the glorious sun. It's the little things that make me happy, and morning sunshine is one of them.

And I leave you with Koda, who also makes my day.

Meet Koda

This past week, I've been busy (...and a little MIA from my blog) since I've been with this little fella. While I was looking for homes for these stray kitties  from my backyard, I decided to take one in. He's so cute and I just couldn't help it. So, welcome to the family, Koda.
