On storms and such, metaphorically anyway.

There was a storm brewing, and you could see it miles away.

Unexpected clouds to cover a beautiful thing. The rain came and thunder roared. The storm rippled through uncontrollably, and we couldn’t hide from it.

I couldn’t hide from it.

But the thing about storms is that the sun eventually comes back and your world is lit again. Even though the tragedy of everything it ripped apart and damaged lingers, the sun comes back. There is light eventually. It’s what I remind myself. I repeat it over and over again.

There were days I drove over a long bridge… where I used to see the clouds coming from the distance. These days, they have been replaced with the sun. And there’s something calming about the sun rising over the ocean. The way its golden glow reaches out over the skies and reflects off the water to double its power. It brings me out of a dark place and gives me confidence to see things through; that the light at the end of the tunnel is real. Because you know what? The sun comes back and lights the world that was once dark and riddled with storms.

Inspiration: Fight For It

It's easy to lose sight of the finish line when things don't happen right when you want them to. Sometimes you forget and need a friendly reminder to pick right back up, even in the form of a fortune cookie.

This fortune couldn't come at a better time as tomorrow is a big day for me - more on that later.

#InstaShoes

Have you ever looked through your Instagram feed and noticed an unintentional pattern or pictures of something similar? For me, I noticed a lot of shoes. It’s interesting because I only have so many pairs of shoes that I wear regularly and without even thinking about it, the IG shots of shoes on my feed are all different.

What theme have you noticed in your IG feed?

Dream On: Rose Garden

The season of roses awaken my senses.

Rows of roses meet me on my way down the steps to my backyard garden.

The smell of newly bloomed roses and the heat of the sun against the cool dewwy grass beneath the colorful flowers.

I couldn't stop the smiling as I pass each new bud as it is a reminder of the promise of everlasting bouquets.

Dream On: Coastal Rain

I find that the best time for thinking and to crank out dreams and ideas is during a shower and on rainy days (the other kind of shower). I suppose the water metaphorically is washing away those things blockading a cluttered mind. Whatever the case, water is a calming agent.

Even though the cause of the rain today is Tropical Storm Andrea, unfortunate as it is, it got me thinking. I’m starting a new little series just sharing a snippet of a fanciful moment I hope to one day live.

***

On a rainy day someday, how lovely it would be to have a moment where I can just sit on my porch to watch the rain pour and the leaves twist in the puddles. The usual stillness of home is broken from the pitter-patter of the raindrops on all surfaces, the hollowing wind through the crevices and opened bottles, and the waves crashing over the rocks and sand.

Hand in hand with my love, sipping warm tea while the rain and wind cools down the summer air.

A slow paced life on the edge of the beach.

Cozy Things

Now that we are in December, I'm thinking about the winter chills, staying warm and cozy things. Picture oversize sweaters, blankets, knits, fireplace fires, hot drinks and snuggling (lots of this).

We are just beginning our fall here in St. Petersburg. Cold winter days just seem so far off, especially when we have a high of 75 today.

Christmas Inspiration

I'm finally going to go pick up a tree and will be decorating it and my home all weekend long! This will *hopefully* be the first Christmas I share with Joshua (yes. after 4 years), so I'm putting a little more time into decorating this year. I'm going for a green, gold, white and brown theme. I'm pinning more photos for inspiration on this christmas board (follow my pins here)!

Do you have a holiday theme this year?
