This past weekend, I was a
make-believe St. Petersburg tour guide while my friend Christina visited from
Orlando. We've never been to a wine tasting before, or a winery for that
matter, so I figured a visit to the Florida Orange Grove Winery was in order.
I passed by it countless times before but never ventured in.
The Florida Orange Grove Winery
is a boutique winery here in St. Petersburg. I always thought they just sold
wines and hosted wine tastings, I had no
idea they MADE their wines and had tours of their facility. So maybe I was more of a tourist than a tour
guide after all. :)
They also have a gift shop and a
wall of unique flavored jellies.
What's pretty neat about this
winery is that they specialize in fruit wines. Not a mix of fruit juices with
grape wine, but made from 100% fruit. If you're like me and prefer a sweet,
light wine OR maybe you have not yet developed a taste for wine, this would
perfect for you too. They taste just
like the fruit it's made from… tangerine, kiwi, pineapple, coconut and a lot of
other tropical fruits.
{wine tasting}
I tried some pretty unique flavors: carrot, banana and mango wine just to name a few.
I would definitely recommend
coming here if you’re ever in the area. I’ve already penciled it into my tour guide schedule (which includes John’s Pass and St.
Petersburg Pier) for any out-of-towners who visit me.
Have you recently discovered
something awesome about your city?

Hello, pretty! Maybe follow each other? Just let me know!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried many fruit wines and can't imagine a KIWI wine! How crazy. However, I love vineyards (worked at one in the tasting room after college) and wines (I live in Italy... how could I not!) and this post made me happy. :-)

I'd love to go to a vineyard one day! You must be surrounded by so many great wines out there in Italy.
DeleteA trip to a winery sounds perfect right now.

sounds like you had a wonderful time! I'm in the middle of a few weeks off of work and am taking all the time I can to enjoy some good coffee and breakfast spots in Adelaide, Australia. Have to say, with quite a bit of time on my hands, I'm managing to do a pretty good job ;)
ReplyDeleteYay! So glad to hear. I love exploring cafes and bakeries too :)
DeleteI've been saying this forever but I STILL really want to go to a winery. It seems like such a fun trip!

What a fun day and an incredible wine trip. I haven’t been to Europe, but my favorite wine tour was actually my first wine tour in Santa Barbara Wine Tours. Such a great day and I still have the wine glass from the tasting
