Breakfast for Two

On Sunday, Joshua and I packed up some breakfast and hit the beach for a little morning date. Just us, a flock of seagulls and pelicans (also there for breakfast), the soothing sound of crashing waves and a glorious sun rise. Okay, and also a few passersby who smiled at us and sighed how cute we were with our little blanket and bagels.

On the mini menu we have....

Cinnamon crunch bagels and homemade pumpkin spice cream cheese (recipe below)

Orange apple cider and a bowl of grapes and blackberries.

It was such a beautiful morning and I'm so glad we were able to wake up early enough to see the sunrise, which can be difficult on a weekend morning. But I this was worth it. I'm thinking this would be lovely weekend tradition. Now, if only this long distance thing vanished.

Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese Recipe

8 oz of cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup of pumpkin puree
3 tablespoons of brown sugar
2 tablespoon of maple syrup
1/2 tablespoon of honey
1 teaspoon of pumpkin spice
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Mix the cream cheese, sugar and syrup, then add pumpkin, spices and vanilla. Refrigerate and enjoy!

Miami Beach, Unexpectedly

You would think that when you plan to go to Miami Beach, you plan on actually going on the beach...

Not the case this time. We didn't pack swimming suits, beachy wear or in Joshua's case, shorts or sandals! I admit that when we were in talks of going to Miami Beach, that we were just going to walk, shop, sightsee and eat.

Somehow we (J and a couple of our friends, Lindsey and Richard) strolled on the beach, sat in the shade of that awesome lifeguard house and people watched. I just marveled at the color of the ocean. It was so blue, not like the greenish color we have here in the Gulf.

Amid crowds of people and noisy passersby, being next to the ocean is still the most rejuvenating place to be.

Cocoa Beach Day

Beach waves at Cocoa Beach FL

Living in Florida you think everyday should be a beach day. Day after day, we're blessed with warm, sunny weather so I expected last Saturday to be a gorgeous day too. Unfortunately, as Joshua and I drove to Cocoa Beach with a few friends... we saw looming clouds. I'm not much of a beach goer and the one day I decide to go, it's cloudy. Just my luck? I hoped that once we got to the beach, the sun would shine. But instead, I met cold wind and a sunless sky. I ended up wearing Joshua's hoodie nearly the entire time there.

The water was so choppy!

It was so windy that Joshua was able to have objects stick to his body.

This was about as much of the water I could stand. It was freezing!
